Ometti Collection - Artist Statement

I have always been fascinated by rocks. Each one is unique in colour, shape, and size. Under the sun, they sparkle and shimmer; I can spend hours examining them during my walks along beaches. There is something peaceful about holding a rock and spending time enveloped in nature. Escaping the everyday hectic world and stepping into a natural environment gives me a sense of calm and the opportunity to reflect and breathe. When I hold a rock, I feel grounded and it silently reminds me that I’m made up of the same substance. Like a rock, I am strong.

My current body of work is inspired by nature walks and uses symbolism to convey a message of encouragement. Each painting depicts a perilous structure that ignores the laws of gravity and creates a sense of tension in the anticipation the formation will lose its equilibrium and topple down. This delicate arrangement comments on how there are forces in life that will attempt to upset one’s inner peace, but with determination, patience, and resilience, obstacles can be overcome.

Hello.

Welcome and feel free to browse. I love the great outdoors and I feel that being surrounded by nature is essential, however, not always accessible; depending where one lives. So this became the driving inspiration behind my work. Through the translucency of watercolour, the natural subjects of rocks, and the intricate details of my paintings, I aim to transform spaces into beautiful sanctuaries.
