Artist in Residence
Participating in the Richmond Hill Group of Artists has been a profoundly enriching experience, one that has truly allowed me to connect deeply with fellow creatives in meaningful ways. I have had the privilege of sharing the space with two incredibly talented artists who have inspired me greatly. The collaborative environment we cultivate fosters a strong sense of community, where every member is encouraged to share their techniques, sources of inspiration, and constructive feedback, all of which enhance our individual artistic practices.
It’s been two years since my last Artist in Residence with the Richmond Hill Group of Artists at Mill Pond Gallery, a period that has reinforced my love for this kind of engagement. The residency was a focused six-day experience that emphasized both productivity and community engagement. While social media certainly offers a vast platform for outreach, the joy derived from face-to-face interactions with visitors and fellow artists far surpasses the experience of being glued to a screen or navigating the complexities of online algorithms. Engaging with the community around us is essential for artists’ growth and fulfillment.
During that enriching residency, I had the pleasure of selling one of my pieces, and witnessing firsthand how my work brought genuine joy to someone’s day was incredibly fulfilling. Engaging with gallery visitors and responding thoughtfully to their inquiries was truly a highlight of the entire experience. I am eager and very much look forward to the opportunity to participate in this residency once again next year. My aspiration is to complete a larger portion of my collection so that I can proudly share it with the community that has supported me throughout my artistic journey.
